Information about the Gospel Project-Ruhr
The Gospel Project-Ruhr was founded on the 1st of April, 2001. Since then it reached more than 170,000 visitors during its events. Prominent partners such as national soccer player Gerald Asamoah, sport commentator Werner Hansch, “Starlight Express” vocalist Darren Lee Frazier and others perform on stage with several hundred children and adults from all over the Ruhr-area with the Gospel Project-Ruhr.
The Gospel Project-Ruhr is a registered, non-profit recognized association which is non-confessional and financially independent with over 100 volunteers.
The Gospel Project-Ruhr made its task to support people from all over the Ruhr-area in their creative abilities no matter their nationality. Kids, young adults, and adults receive the opportunity to actively participate in music and culture as well as an understanding of the content of the gospel.
In the course of its initiatives and interactive concerts, the association inspired over 170,000 visitors in several large events. During the Christmas Celebration in the Westfalenhalle 1 in Dortmund more than 250 adults and 500 children were on stage and performed to more than 70,000 people in the audience. Through such interactive concepts more than 2,000 people became a part of projects involving people from all generations. The Gospel Project-Ruhr is based on the motivation and involvement of more than 100 volunteers. We combine rehearsals with goal oriented projects such as gospel concerts and performances in:

Directors of the Gospel Project-Ruhr:
Christa Merle: Director of the Gospel Project-Ruhr. Graduated from the Music Conservatory of Duesseldorf with an emphasis in piano, voice, choir direction and music theory. Christa is a composer of several musical and founder of the Gospel Project-Ruhr.
Christian Schnarr: Music director of the Gospel Project-Ruhr. Graduated from Folkwang Music Conservatory of Essen with an emphasis on Jazz Composition and Arrangement. Christian also works as a conductor and music teacher.
Prof. Dr. med. Richard Goebel: First Chairman of the Gospel Project-Ruhr e.V. Professor Goebel teaches at the medical faculty of the Ludwig-Maximeilian University in Munich. For 25 years he was the directing doctor of the Protestant Hospital in Oberhausen.
